From the filmmaker
The Re-Breakup grew out of my own personal experiences and was then shaped by listening to the stories of women around me — especially in the years leading up to and following the 2024 election. I kept hearing about the ways politics, culture, and personal values were beginning to show up inside our most intimate relationships, particularly in the rise of interracial and cross-cultural dating. It felt like the world was changing faster than the stories we were seeing on screen and the divide was growing stronger.
This is a film about that gap. About the conversations we avoid, the choices we carry, and what happens when love brings us together regardless of our differences but is not always enough to bridge the disagreements between us. I believe storytelling is one of the most powerful ways we can understand each other, challenge what we think we know, and inspire change.
The Re-Breakup is my first film, and I'm incredibly excited to finally share it with the world.
